Future Walls aspires to be the most engagement-driven street art programme the world has ever seen. As of March, 2025, we have engaged with over 4,000 people through workshops, presentations and events. We have visited five local schools, delivering creative workshops to students where they created their own murals.

We’ve also engaged with Sunderland residents and visitors by offering free spray paint and stencil workshops at events and festivals. We’ve gathered hundreds of Mackem’s feedback with our engagement questionnaire and analysed the feedback we received. All of this valuable community input has been translated into tangible evidence of what the people of Sunderland want to see on their walls.
