Somewhere Soon Near You & Or Me

Local artist Tom Langfield brings colour and life to High Street West

"Somewhere Soon Near You And Or Me" is a piece about the cycle of a day, from quiet sunrise to busy mid-day, and on to a wondrous evening with a view of what's ahead. The peak of the scheme, a seemingly random assortment of colour and form, demonstrates the chaos we encounter in our daily lives, but when we zoom out and reflect, we see symmetry and order.

Having worked almost exclusively as a digital artist and designer, working in the urban environment is a fresh challenge for me. I did a lot of research on murals to train my eye and work out things like scale and rhythm over a large piece like this. I wanted to energise the street with the piece and give it a burst of colour. The idea of telling a story through abstract art was an interesting challenge and one that pushed me and made me strive for something new.
