REBEL WOMEN

Rebel Women of Sunderland was launched in 2019, selecting women both past and present with a connection to the city and honouring them for their varied achievements. 

Freelance artist Kathryn Robertson, a Sunderland University graduate, created the original illustrations, which the AOP team then circulated as paste-up murals throughout the city.

Local Sunderland musician Faye Fantarrow, who died at 21 from a brain tumour, was honoured with a permanent painted mural celebrating her life and achievements.
